Broken Head Productions
Founded by Clare Sladden in 2017, Broken Head Productions creates female-driven, thematically resonant stories that connect with audiences on an emotional level and adhere to best-practice storytelling.
Responsible for each of Clare’s three short films — whose festival runs all include Academy accredited festivals — Broken Head Productions also produced Clare’s award-winning web series, Freudian Slip, which was nominated for a 2018 AWGIE and has over 400K views on Youtube.
In 2020, Broken Head Productions teamed up with Contra Stories to produce Winding Road, an Audible Original narrative podcast starring Yael Stone, Dacre Montgomery and Noni Hazlehurst.
Clare Sladden
Clare Sladden is a Meanjin/Brisbane-based screenwriter with an authorial creative voice and a passion for female-driven stories. Her television credits include Good Cop/Bad Cop (Jungle Entertainment & Future Shack for the CW, Roku & STAN), NCIS: Sydney (ESA & Paramount+), Eden (Every Cloud Productions & STAN), and Sunny Nights (Jungle Entertainment & Echo Lake Entertainment for Stan) — premiering in 2025.
In the audio space, Clare wrote on the Wentworth spin-off podcast (Fremantle Media for Audible), and she wrote, directed, and co-produced Winding Road (Broken Head Productions & Contra Stories for Audible), starring Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things) and Yael Stone (Orange is the New Black) and Noni Hazlehurst.
In 2020, Clare was selected for the SPA ‘Ones to Watch’ program — in 2021 she was chosen as the successful participant of Screen Queensland’s ‘Bradford Winters Lab’, a program specifically designed to facilitate emerging showrunners — and in 2022, Clare was named on Inside Film’s ‘Rising Talent’ list.
Most recently, Clare has completed an attachment under US showrunner John Quaintance — she’s been awarded Screen Australia development funding for her feature film Sophie Next Door, which she’ll write, direct and co-produce — and she was selected for Australians In Film & Screen Australia’s prestigious 2025 ‘Talent Gateway’ program.
